Do you want to be financially free? I’m sure everyone wants to be, but not everyone is willing to follow the steps and do the work that is required to reach financial freedom. Although the journey toward personal financial freedom is a rough road, the reward at the end is a life time of financial freedom, time freedom, and for many the ability to work from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection.
As with a journey of 1,000 miles, the journey toward personal financial freedom begins with one step. The problem is a lot of people only dream of financial freedom but fail to take the first step. This will be the most important of all financial freedom articles that you have read thus far because I can give you the first four steps you can take TODAY to start your journey. Are you ready?
1. Set your Financial Freedom Goals
Determine how much money you need to make on a monthly basis that would allow you to walk away from your job if you wanted.
Secondly, decide how long you want to take to reach your goal of financial freedom? Do you want to take 2 years, 4 years? 5 years?
Be sure to set small milestone goals that lead to your ultimate goal. If $10,000 per month means Financial Freedom for you, set a milestone to get to $1000 per month, then once you’ve reached that, set a goal to reach $5000 per month, in other words, work your way up little by little and reward yourself when you reach each milestone. This will keep you motivated to keep going.
Finally, write your goals down. According to a recent study, those who write down their goals are 42% more likely to acheive them.
2. Choose a Vehicle
I am not suggesting a car or truck here, but an actual method that allows you to make more money in your spare time. Fortunately, there are many vehicles you can choose from, and you need to figure out which one works best for you.
Here are some Financial Freedom Vehicles:
- Start your Own Business from scratch
- Buy an Existing Profitable Business
- Buy a Franchise (such as a fast food or gym)
- Join a Network Marketing firm
- Join an Online Affiliate Program
This is most certainly not a complete list, but they are the most popular financial freedom vehicles people use. My preferred vehicle is an Online Affiliate Program, see my review on one affiliate program called Wealthy Affiliate.
3. Change your Mindset and Grow
When it comes to acheiving financial freedom, your mindset plays a huge part of the process. You need to learn to think like a business owner, you need to think like an entreprenuer. The best way to change your mindset is to read success books.
To give you some ideas of some books you can read, I recommend starting out with Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. This book is a must read for every beginner who is entering the world into Entrepreneurship.
The second book I recommend you read is Cash Flow Quadrant also by Robert Kiyosaki.
The third book you may want to read is Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill.
These books will build you a mindset foundation and from there you can continue to grow your mindset (and your wallet!!) and you will want to continue this indefinitely for the rest of your entrepreneurial career. Millionaires on average read two or more books per month, most of them related to success and leadership.
So, do you want to be rich and financially free? Start doing what the rich do………
If you feel you don’t have time to read, buy the audio books instead so you can listen to them in your car or at work (if allowed).
4. Create a Schedule and Stick to it
Remember remember (yes, I said it twice, this is not a typo), make a schedule and stick to it. Set aside a set number of hours per week that you will work your business. If you have an online affiliate business or a network marketing business, you can work these businesses pretty much anytime of the day you’d like.
Are you an early morning person? Get up early and work an hour before you go to your day job. Are you an night owl? Work the business during the late hours of the night, this is especially helpful if you have kids. Do you work varying hours every week? Once you know your work schedule, work your business around it.
For those of you who work a full time day job (probably the majority of you), it may be a challenge having to work, and then come home and work again….I completely understand as I have been through this myself. Some days you are extremely tired when you get home. The best way to get around this is to have a schedule that allows you to work and still have some free time to wind down. You need some relaxing time and some play time, otherwise you will burn out and be tempted to quit.
If you focus on these 4 things over the next year, two years, five years, you may become financially free and you may be able to quit your daytime job and focus on your business. You will also be able to increase the time you work on your business from 5 or 10 hours a week to 20 hours a week (if you want) and explode your business growth and your income.
With time freedom and money freedom, you have the option of spending more time traveling, buying investment properties, attending success seminars that will further upgrade your mindset, or whatever you want to do. You will own 100% of your life and you will be able to do whatever the hell you want, whenever the hell you want with no time clocks or bosses dictating your life.
Are you willing to put in the extra time and work over the next few years to make that possibility a reality?
